A Glimpse of Santa

glimpse header-002a

Since I know how much you can’t stand love taking your kids to the mall, standing in incredibly long short lines only to be blown away as you think to yourself… what the heck does this teenager behind the camera know about kids or taking pictures?” “Wow the Mall must be paying really well to hire this fabulous teenage photographer with ALL this experience.”

Okay Peeps..here’s the 411:

  • What is it: A Glimpse of Santa is a unique photography experience with Santa {aka YOU, dad, an Aunt or even Grandpa!}  You know why this is great?? A. The kids already know the “REAL” Santa is not at the mall and it’s just his helper…so why not let the helper be you?  B. That pretty  much guarantees me a “No Tears” photo shoot and finally C. I get the best expressions and smiles out of those kiddos trying to figure out why Mommy or Daddy is dressed up so funny!!  Don’t plan on traditional photos of Santa’s i.e. his face and a screaming child….these photos will be angles where only parts of Santa will show.
  • How long: Your session will last about 20 min…honestly, don’t feel like you’re getting jipped here…because that is about as long as kids last.  Much longer and they are done….And Helloooow what are you paying me for???  My speedy fast snapping finger  and crazy mad photo skills of course!
  • What to wear: anything goes!! Christmas Pj’s, a fancy Christmas outfit, jeans and t-shirt or even borrow one of my tutus!!  (p.s. a little elf outfit would be saaweet)
  • What to bring: I’ll have a couple props but if you want to bring your own…fANtaSTiC!  A wrapped present would be cute to have them opening, favorite teddy bear, blankie a Giant Candy Cane or Lollipop would be sooooo cool!!
  • What do I get: 15-30 edited hi-res images on CD with a copyright release for you to print ANYWHERE! And of course 20 min of watching me dancing around making crazy noises and pretend sneezes!
  • How much is this going to set me back: Lucky you…only $50 this year!  AND…if you schedule your session on December 12th 100% of the proceeds will be going to the Odette Foundation Fund.  If you can’t make the 12th…no fear, Odette’s family will be receiving 20% of all my Glimpse of Santa sessions.
  • I want to book on December 12th: Awesome! Hurry and schedule your appointment.  Half the day is already gone and the local newspaper story featuring the fundraiser hasn’t even gone out yet! Wowza! It’s going to be a crazy beautiful day!  Call me 801.722.5878  and I will let you know what slots I still have available.
  • Where is the location on December 12th: Bobby Lawrence Karate Studio 1294 N. Redwood Rd Saratoga Springs {Smith’s Grocery parking lot}  Special thanks to Bobby Lawrence Karate!
  • I Can’t schedule the 12th but I still want a Glimpse of Santa Session: Fantabulous! All other sessions will be held in my basement studio in Saratoga Springs (my new studio is still under construction…keep fingers crossed it will be ready in a few months;)

Soooooo, let’s talk Odette.  She is the cutest, sweetest little girl who happens to be battling for her life with LEUKEMIA, oh and did I  mention she is only ONE year old?  I have a one year old, I know how tiny and fragile they are and it breaks my heart every time I think of Odette and the trails she and her family have faced and continue to face. What truly amazes me even more is her families attitude.  As I have read her mom’s blog http://itsawonderfulbusylife.blogspot.com/ I smile, sometimes a tear but I mostly smile.  They are a positive family that finds the joy in everything.  I admire that tremendously.  This holiday season I hope we all can dig a little deeper, whether it be for Odette, a neighbor, a family member or someone we don’t even know.  So I’ll leave you with my favorite quote from Kung Fu Panda: “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow a Mystery, Today is a Gift, That’s why it’s called the Present

Talk about originality! I love your style, Jen! This is the best idea I’ve ever heard of – the parents dressing up as Santa, AND the donations. My heart goes out to Odette and her family. I am spreading the word! :)

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for your email tonight, or whoever it came from. I am on a childhood cancer foundation, so Odette means a lot to me. Children With Cancer Christmas Foundation (CCCF) provides 2 annual parties to newly diag. Utah county children with cancer and their families.

I will contact Odette’s parents through their blogspot.

Hope all is well and fine with you and your family!

Who thinks of those ideas? That’s why you are you. So dang cute. I’d love to participate but Tom would kill me if I paid somebody else to take a picture when I just spent $$$ on my own new camera. But, anyone who reads this – $50 is a steal. Jen is amazing. And you will never regret using her for your pics. (Just a little plug from a satisfied customer.)
